Time For Change?

In a society where women are not allowed to show their flesh and modelling is seen as another word for prostitution. After years of hiding underneath burqas, living in a world of male domination, the women of Pakistan finally decide to speak out, and are happy to present Pakistan's FIRST EVER fashion show!

But in a country and society where it is going against tradition and the religious beliefs and the laws of the muslim populated soci
ety, also becoming such a dangerous thing with the
current events in Pakistan ... the question is should fashion shows continue in Pakistan?

The four day fashion show has empowered the women of Pakistan giving them a voice- something they've never had due to
the male domination of
the country and society.
Would it really be fair to take that away from them now?
But is it fair to break and wreck these ways of a traditional Muslim populated society?

"When my mum saw my first photo shoot she slapped me."
A quote from model Mehreen Syed.
Many of the models who perform in these fashion shows in Pakistan are brought up in the traditional Muslim way, so becoming a model is frowned upon because women showing flesh is forbidden in the Qur'an, and in the Muslim society becoming a model is thought to be just another word
for becoming a prostitute.

Is it time for change?

Many of these young models and fashion lovers who live in Pakistan believe this is a beginning of a change, something big is about to come from it.
It is inspirational, as these women are so brave fighting against the terrorism and fear the women of Pakistan face everyday.
Also going against their society's beliefs and fighting for change, showing their great bravery.

We should encourage these women to keep fighting for their freedom and continue with these amazing fashion shows, instead of arguing if it is right for them to try new things, bringing Pakistan into a whole new world.
